Queer South Asian Doula. Support during pregnancy and birth

About me

Iโ€™m Amisha Abeyawardene (they/she), a birth doula and childbirth educator based in North West London.

I have supported hundreds of parents to feel calm, confident and relaxed as they prepare for their positive birth journeys.

I work with parents across London who want informed, compassionate support during pregnancy and birth. Many of the families I support are navigating the maternity system for the first time and want someone beside them who understands birth rights, advocacy, and the emotional journey of becoming a parent.

My commitment

Throughout my doula career, I have supported various types of births ranging from โ€˜hands offโ€™ homebirths to gentle elective caesareans (or belly births). I will support your choice however, wherever and with whoever you chose to birth with. I have also supported those who make choices that fall โ€˜out of guidelinesโ€™ and work alongside their midwifery/obstetric team to create a personalised care plan.

If you are pregnant after a traumatic birth, it is important to remember that your fears are valid, your feelings matter, and you do not have to navigate this journey alone. Every birth is unique, and every person deserves to feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout the process. If you're preparing for a birth after trauma and would like to explore how doula support could help, I would love to connect with you for a free, no-obligation discovery call.

My birthwork practice extends to the postpartum period, ensuring that you have personal autonomy over your own reproductive decisions and the ability to parent in a safe, nurturing environment.
