Frequently asked questions

  • What types of birth do you support?

I support and respect however you choose to give birth. Whether that be a gentle planned caesarean birth (belly birth), a vbac (vaginal birth after caesarean), water birth or something else. The possibilities are endless.

  • Do you only support home births?

No. I support you in whatever location you decide to give birth - whether that be at home, hospital labour ward or birth centre. I will work with you to understand your options for birth location and find out which one is best suited to you.

  • Will you support me if my labour is induced?

Yes. If you decide to medically induce labour via a sweep, hormones or foley catheter I will support you. I will also discuss your circumstances with you to ensure that induction is the right option for you rather than based on hospital protocol.

  • How can I hire a birth worker if I can’t afford one?

I encourage you to consider how much value this service has to you. If you have a baby registry, ask families and friends to put money towards doula costs. I also accept payment plans so that clients can pay me in instalments over a period of time. Many doulas including myself also offer sliding scale prices for those who are at greater risk of poor perinatal care including Black, brown, queer and trans people. Get in touch to learn more about my prices and payment options.
