Birth Pool Loan Scheme in London

  • Reserve Your Pool

    Contact me as early as you’d like in your pregnancy to reserve your pool.

    I’ll confirm availability and add your name to the loan calendar.

  • Collection/Delivery

    Pools are usually available for collection around 37 weeks of pregnancy.

    You’ll receive: the pool, pump, and hose fittings.

    *You will need to purchase your own liner for sterility and hygiene.

  • Use at home

    The pool is yours to use for the duration of your labour and birth.

    You’ll be provided with clear set-up and cleaning instructions.

    If I am your doula I will help you set up the pool and deflate, clean and pack it away once you are finished using it.

  • Return

    After your birth, the pool and equipment are returned within 7 days.

    I’ll handle cleaning and preparing the kit for the next family.

Price for doula clients: £60 (6 week hire from 37 weeks)

Price for non-doula clients: £95 (6 week hire from 37 weeks)

Benefits of using a birth pool in labour

  • Often cited as the pain relief closest to an epidural in terms of its effectiveness in reducing the need for pharmacological pain relief

  • The buoyancy of water helps you to  relax and feel more in control. 

  • You can move freely in the water, finding positions that are comfortable and reducing pressure on your back and pelvis. 

  • Can speed up labour and reduce the length of the 2nd and 3rd stages of labour

  • You have more privacy as you have a protected space and your lower half is submerged in water

  • Is a gentler transition for baby as they are already in amniotic fluid before birth

  • Can reduce the chance of severe (3rd and 4th degree) perennial tears by the warm water increasing the stretching and elasticity of perineal muscles
